The Weeknd continues to attain commercial success as “Blinding Lights,” the Weeknd’s greatest hit, achieves a new accolade.
According to Billboard, the track is the first in the Billboard Hot 100’s 63-year history to maintain a top 10 position. The song from After Hours album first debuted at No. 11 on November 14, 2019; the chart then broke into the top 10 on the February 29, 2020, chart, and the most recent chart itched the name of Blinding lights in history as it logged its 52nd week in the top 10. Between the February 2020 and recent charts, it only spent two weeks away from the top 10 in December 2020.
In September 2020, “Blinding Lights” logged its 28th consecutive week on the chart’s top five, dismissing the “Shape of You” record to become the longest-running top five entry on the Hot 100.
